The 15th Convocation of the KLE Academy of Higher Education and Research (KAHER), Deemed-to-be-University, Belagavi, was held on Tuesday at KLE Centenary Convention Centre, JNMC Campus, Belagavi, Karnataka.
Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare and Chemicals & Fertilizers Dr Jagat Prakash Nadda was the Chief Guest and delivered the Convocation Address. Union Minister Pralhad Joshi, was the Guest of Honour.
1,844 degrees were awarded in various disciplines of Health Sciences including 40 Ph.Ds., 29 Post-doctoral (DM/M.Ch.), 660 Post-Graduates, 1,080 Under-Graduates, 9 Post-Graduate Diplomas, 11 Diplomas, 4 Fellowships. 28 girls and 7 boys were awarded 46 Gold Medals.
Dr Nadda said that Union Government is focused on providing healthcare which is not only curative but also preventive, palliative and rehabilitative. Highlighting the achievements of the Union Government in the health sector. He stated that 1.75 lakh Ayushman Arogya Mandirs are operational across the country providing a range of services pertaining to healthcare and wellness. “In the last 10 years, the total number of medical colleges has risen to 780. There has been a 130% increase in MBBS seats, while PG seats have seen an increase of 138% in the last 10 years” Dr Nadda said.
Dr Nadda called upon the graduates asking them to continue the learning process.” Never stop learning, the process of learning must continue until the last breath. The moment you start believing you know everything, your growth stops,” Dr Nadda urged.
Minister Pralhad Joshi, appreciated the KLE Society and Dr. Prabhakar Kore for imparting quality education and providing health-care services in North Karnataka.
Vice Chancellor of the University Dr. Nitin M. Gangane, presented the University Report, outlining the unique achievements of the University for the year 2024-25. He also informed that the KAHER, Belagavi, within a short span of 19 years, has earned national and international recognition in the field of health sciences education and public health research.
Prof. Dr. Shailesh Shrikhande, Professor of Surgical Oncology & Surgical Service and Deputy Director, Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai was awarded with the honorary doctorate.
Chancellor Dr. Prabhakar Kore, Registrar Dr. M.S.Ganachari, Dr. Chandra S. Metgud, Controller of Examinations were present.
