Here we are again, after recognising women’s day yesterday. Well, if not any other days of the year, people around the world will at least celebrate women and women empowerment on the auspicious day, March 8. Today, women are empowering and achieving great heights. It cannot be ignored that different laws and safety measures have been enforced and implemented in the Indian society. But the statement itself is ironically contrasting itself, clearly showing the scenario of the women’s unsafety and unfairness of our society towards women.
Let us today discuss on the Indian society and its treatment towards a woman. It is indeed the need of the hour to answer, ‘from what point of view does the society see a woman?’. Let us not fake and give a sugary icing to the truth of how women are treated in and by the society. Indeed every day , every hour every minute and every second is a challenge for the woman when she is in the Indian society. At one end, our culture teaches us to respect a woman, at the same time a woman is eve-teased to the other end. At one end, our moral values preach us not to violate a woman’s peace, at the same time she is raped on the other end.
It is not new to anyone of us. But it is the bitter truth that woman in the Indian society is not safe. It is so shameful that the one who looks after the home as well as progresses to success in professional field and not only work practically but also selflessly cares for the people around her are depleted from her rights. And this has been the story of not about just few years but decades.
History has witnessed in the past, as in decades back, the problems that women have been fighting against. It is important to note that the women’s day is not just a day to recognise the importance of women around the world but it is a designated day ,to mark the protesting act of women for their rights (marked by 1908 garment workers strike in New York, where women protested against working conditions). But even after so many decades, the society is still depleting woman from enjoying her rights and freedom trying to curb her potential and deprive her from reaching heights.
Even today, women are facing the challenges in the society each and every second. Man has been enjoying superiority in the society at every corner in every field since a long time and this alone lead to gender inequality. Believe it or not! Society still prefers male over female. And the point that needs attention is whether the gender inequality made society cruel to women or is it the opposite?
Taking lessons from the past incidences and becoming wiser, women has grown up to be stronger enough to face this society. Today, the society that limits a woman from prospering is itself lifted up by the women themselves. Their hard work, dedication, determination and mental strength is something that deserves a salute. Because rising above the constant social discouragement and self-motivating herself to fulfill her dreams is something to be praised of.
Let us as a society fulfill our duties and let women prosper and empower herself. Let us support her and encourage her in her journey towards achieving her aims and fulfilling her success story! On this onset towards the next March 8, Let us strive to create a responsible society where women will be safe and respected and free to be a being! May every day be a women’s day!
