Out of control Soviet tank crashes into disco
A decommissioned Soviet-era tank crashed the party this weekend when it slammed into a disco in Poland during a promotional bid gone awry, the club owner said.
No one was hurt in the incident, which happened Saturday afternoon before customers began arriving at the 'Mono Club' venue in Szubin, northern Poland.
"The brakes and steering failed as I was moving the vehicle in front of the club," Rafal Pasionek, owner of the tank and club, told AFP.
Pasionek and onlookers are heard swearing profusely during the incident, which was captured on video by an employee at the disco.
"I was incredibly lucky that the vehicle went right between the posts flanking the entrance - otherwise there would have been a lot of damage," Pasionek added.
The clip was broadcast nation-wide by Polish media on Monday, after having gone viral on the Internet.
Firemen who arrived on the scene helped to move the massive Soviet-made hardware, complete with tracks and a barrel, onto a flat-bed lorry.
"This is a career-first! I've never seen anything like a military vehicle in a disco," fire brigade spokesman Pawel Prszybylski told AFP.

'Britain's Loneliest Dog' lands role in Hollywood movie
'Britain's loneliest dog,' who has been living in an animal shelter for six years and has been rejected by 18,000 potential owners, has landed a role in the the new Transformers movie.
Freya the Staffordshire bull terrier was dubbed 'Britain's loneliest dog' after spending almost her entire life living in animal shelters, watching more than 50 of her kennel mates be re-homed during her time at the centre.
Freya was spotted on Facebook by animal loving Hollywood movie director Michael Bay, who decided to cast her in the fifth installment of the blockbuster Transformers series.
Bay, 51, said that if the role did not find the dog a home, he would keep her, 'The Mirror' reported.
"We are thrilled at the opportunity of a movie deal for Freya and at such interest and support from a major film director who is also a dedicated animal advocate," a spokesperson for Freshfields Animal Rescue Centre, where Freya is currently lodged, said.
Till now, Freya has been rejected by 18,000 potential owners, but staff at Freshfields hope that she will now find a loving home.
"Freya is a beautiful dog with a beautiful personality, and that will shine through to the right person," said Debbie Hughes, fundraiser at the shelter.

China-made Trump toilet papers popular in US
BEIJINGAngered by Donald Trump's allegations that China stole American jobs and profited out of US markets, Chinese manufacturers are selling toilet papers in the US with facial expressions of the controversial presumptive Republican presidential nominee, state media reported.
Many Chinese companies are already producing these novelty Trump toilet papers with the slogan 'Dump with Trump.'
Buyers can choose from different Trump facial expressions featured on them which include smiling, pointing and pouting, state-run Xinhua news agency reported.
Qingdao Wellpaper Industrial Company said sales of its Trump toilet papers have been rising since mid-February. They had already received more than 50 orders, some for up to 5,000 rolls. Most of the orders were placed by US buyers.
