Ina major breakthrough, the Goa Police has raided a couple of massage parlors andbooked prostitution cases over the last month. The Panjim police, on September1, cracked an international call girl and prostitution racket involving sevengirls from Thailand. Lanna Spa and Saloon at St Inez and Lilavatti Spa andSaloon near 18th June Road both were raided on the same day and rescued sevengirls. Elton Furtado owner of the both places have arrested on the same day bypolice.
Inanother raid in Porvorim, a controversial massage parlor, which faced a lot of resistancefrom the locals is Lotus excusive beauty salon. Porvorim police raided thisplace on September 6 after obtaining a search warrant from court. They rescuedfive girls and arrested five others, including the owner on charges of procuringthem for the purpose of prostitution. In the same raid, a Marathi actor wascaught red handed with two of the victim girls.
Therewas a spate of raids in Calangute starting with two on August 31, when policeintercepted a car and rescued two girls and arrested two pimps. On the same daythe police arrested three people in connection with forcing a Bangladeshi girlinto prostitution. Then on September 4, the police raided 82 Spa and Salon, rescuingfour girls and arrested four people, including the owner. Police also arrestedtwo customers in a raid.
