Government’s unfulfilled promises

With just four to five months remaining before the Goa Assembly elections, a backlog of unfulfilled promises remains in key sectors, including roadworks, water supply, sewerage, power and transport. These projects should have been completed during the incumbent BJP government’s five-year tenure instead of being pushed to the back burner. Local MLAs now appear likely to wait for clarity on their chances of securing party tickets before acting on these long-pending issues. Only then might they rush to fulfil their promises in the hope of winning people’s votes. The people of Goa are well aware of the political manoeuvres of party-hoppers and those they consider to have betrayed their trust. They will hopefully hold their elected representatives accountable for their unfulfilled promises this time.

The Goa government must expedite pending Mhaje Ghar Yojana applications before the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) comes into force, as certain scheme benefits, regularisation orders and Sanads may be restricted thereafter.
