Don’t blame Nigerians
It is noticed that some of the prominent politicians in Goa have been mouthing irresponsible statements against the Nigerians in Goa and in India as well. Each country is governed by the rules made by the elected representatives of the people. Then there are rules pertaining to the foreigners visiting any country. The Indian Government has its rules in place regarding the foreign nationals visiting India. Now just making sweeping statements against Nigerians and drawing media attention is not the remedy to the problem. The problem is not with Nigerians and their behaviour in Goa. The moot problem is with the Goans who are hand in glove with some foreign nationals to promote nefarious activities in Goa. Then the politicians themselves are the biggest problem in Goa. They are known for scratching where it is not itching. Without the connivance of the locals, politicians and ‘laws enforcing agencies’, no foreigner will be able to get involved in such nefarious activities in Goa. The law makers have become law breakers in Goa. The politicians, who point fingers at the Nigerians and their behaviour, must act and take necessary action against the antisocial elements in the state instead of bad mouthing and drawing media attention.

Identifying locations
It is seen that a junction circle at Gogol is named as ‘Bolshoy’ and is now being used by bus operators to drop the passengers. This has been going on for years without cognizance being taken by the municipality or else, they have turned a blind eye and accepted it for reasons best known to them. Another circle at Colva junction is being regularly used to display hoardings of only a particular politician. It should not be a surprise that eventually it is named after him, since the council is very much under his control. Such hoardings are causing distraction to motorists and liable to cause accidents on this busy junction at the entrance to the city. Further it is a defecation of public property for promoting self-interests. It is high time now Municipal Council takes review of all such prominent locations and streets and formally renames them after late city fathers or distinguished personalities, for easy identification of areas, spots, junctions etc. Authorities need to take action when people use public places for personal gains.

No imported leaders
It has been reported in media that a party from Delhi is planning to enter the State and draw a manifesto which is in the interests of Goans. Goa had been under the influence of external leaders for more than five centuries. It is likely that a certain section will get lured and fall prey, but will not cause any impact on political scenario. As per media reports the leaders of said party recently has insulted us, stating Goa is famous for sex and liquor. Another trend adopted by these guys is to make some irrelevant statement on government, (if not Modi), seek for banning of organizations etc so as to get sympathy. These leaders may be under the false impression that history will repeat itself. This soil has distinction of having our own intellectuals, academicians, freedom fighters, top class leaders to guide and steer us and imported leaders are not at all needed. Those from neighboring States made attempts to in filter but could not hold water. It is hoped these novices not take our intelligence and maturity for granted.
