Although potholed roads at different locations in Goa were supposed to be repaired prior to the monsoons, it is rather unfortunate that this matter has remained neglected. It is only at the onset of the monsoons that repair works are undertaken in a hurry. And even then, some roads remain unattended to. Seen in the picture is the potholed road adjacent to the Goa State Co-operative Bank Ltd. at Sadar in Ponda (photo clicked on Saturday, June 16 at 7 am). Travellers, especially two-wheeler riders, face great inconvenience while proceeding along this strategic route. It is time for the PWD Minister Sudin Dhavalikar (who resides in Ponda taluka itself) to inspect the roads at different locations in Ponda along with the higher officials of the Public Works Department (Roads Division) on priority basis. Potholed and defective roads must be repaired at once so as to provide safety to innocent travellers during the current rainy season. Proper care should also be taken to ensure that quality of work is maintained.
