In yet another feather in its cap, Goa was selected as thefavourite leisure destination in India by the Condé Nast Traveller Indiareaders.
Goa was also recognized for luxury spa treatments with therunner-up award in the ‘Destination Spa’ category being given to Sereno Spa atthe Park Hyatt Goa Resort and Spa.
The state also received some other awards when Park HyattGoa Resort and Spa was announced the Favourite Leisure Hotel in India and GrandHyatt, Goa, was chosen as the Best New Hotel in India.
The awards are a testimony to Goa's fabulous hospitalityindustry, its magnificent beaches, architectural splendor, Portuguese heritageand spicy local food.
While opening the awards ceremony, Chief Guest, Shri ParvezDewan, Secretary Tourism “ Govt of India said, “My connection with Condé NastTraveller goes back to my earlier days. When I started doing my research onhotel standards I used Condé Nast Traveller as a benchmark to better understandthe industry. Having such credible lineage, I feel that that the Condé NastTraveller Readers’ Travel Awards have become the Oscars of the Indian travelindustry.”
Condé Nast Traveller Readers’ Travel Awards have beencreated with the objective of recognizing and honouring the best in the travel,tourism and hospitality industry, as chosen by the discerning and influentialreaders of Condé Nast Traveller.
Readers of Condé Nast Traveller India had the opportunity tovote across 22 categories for their favourite destinations, hotels, airlines,spas, airports and more. The winners were then chosen after being scored onseveral parameters unique to each category. Through a lucky draw, five votersalso won a luxury hotel stay at world class destinations of Beijing, Tokyo,Singapore, Jakarta and Bangkok.
The Readers’ Travel Award winners will be featured in theDecember 2012 issue of Condé Nast Traveller India, which will be on stands onDecember 7.
