MARGAO
Margao Municipal Council Chairperson Lyndon Pereira has promised to fix all the pending issues concerning the New Market and the Gandhi Market.
The Chairperson descended on the two markets along with the leader of Gandhi market association, former MMC chief Rajendra Ajgaonkar and municipal engineer Vikas Prabhudesai on Tuesday to take stock of the situation.
During the inspection, Ajgaonkar drew the attention of the Chairperson to the roof of the New Market building that needs repair to stop the water seepage in the ongoing monsoon.
He also took up issues plaguing the Gandhi Market, including the replacement of slabs on the cross drainages to prevent mishaps and to take up desilting of drains.
Ajgaonkar took potshots at the Margao MLA Digambar Kamat and accused him of neglecting the Gandhi Market. While the city roads have all been hot mixed, the one leading to the Gandhi Market is full of potholes, he said.
The MMC Chairperson gave the former chief a patient hearing and promised to take up the pending works on priority.
