World Goa Day was celebrated at The Goan Institute Hall in Dabul-Mumbai on August 9.
Organised by The Goan Institute of Dabul, the event drew more than 250 guests who came together to celebrate Goan culture and heritage. The chief guest, Esperance Alphonso, was felicitated for her contribution to Konkani.
The programme kicked off at 7.45 pm with an introductory speech followed by a vibrant welcome song on World Goa Day celebrating 25 years that set the tone for the evening, followed by Portuguese songs.
The cultural programme featured a range of captivating performances, including traditional Goan Mando and couple Mando dance and Portuguese dance that had everyone tapping their toes.
The live band 'The Susegad Rhythms’ kept the audience engaged throughout the night. Their talented singers and musicians ensured that the dance floor was always packed.
The venue also featured stalls offering traditional Goan snacks and food, adding to the festive atmosphere. The organisers offered spot prizes for guests who showcased their knowledge of Goan culture and heritage, making the event even more engaging.
DJ music also made everyone dance to the rhythm.
The organising team wore customised ‘Dukota’ printed T-shirts, adding a touch of unity and identity to the event.
“Overall, the World Goa Day celebration was a joyous tribute to Goan culture and community spirit. It was a resounding success, continuing a decade-long tradition of free entry for all guests,” said Agnes Fernandes, President of The Goan Institute of Dabul.
