LONDON
Over 100 people attended the ‘Goan Fellowship Evening’ organised by the UK Goan Dynamic Group at the St Michael and St Martin Parish Centre in Hounslow, London, on October 17, in support of the ‘Enough is Enough’ movement in Goa.
Reportedly the first event of its kind in the UK organised in support of this cause spearheaded by former chief justice of the Allahabad High Court Ferdino Rebello, the evening combined fellowship, entertainment and community activities with a shared commitment to preserving Goa’s future, heritage and environment.
Councillor Pamila Rodrigues and Councillor Salvador Pereira delivered speeches to express their support for Goa and emphasised the importance of collective action to protect the interests, heritage and environment of Goa.
In her address, Rodrigues said Goans in London have been expressing deep concern over Goa’s current political situation and threats to its identity, culture and heritage.
“We urge every Goan, at home and abroad, to unite and safeguard our beloved Goa,” she said.
Councillor Salvador Pereira, who also leads the UK Goan Dynamic Group, said the central purpose of the gathering was to support the ‘Enough Is Enough’ movement led by Justice Ferdino Rebello.
"The organisers and attendees offered full support to the movement in solidarity with the cause," said Pereira.

“The ‘Goan Fellowship Evening’ was a memorable and encouraging occasion that combined community fellowship with meaningful support for Goa. The event provided a positive foundation for future activities in support of Goa and stands as a reminder that community unity can translate into meaningful action for Goa’s future.”
The event also featured music by Noywen's Music World and DJ TLS X EDU dummer boy, entertainment, games, housie, spot and surprise prizes, and traditional Goan cuisine.
Members of the Goan community, business personalities and supporters appreciated the initiative and demonstrated their willingness to unite behind a cause close to their hearts.
Many also expressed their intention to continue supporting the movement, making the evening an important step towards building lasting engagement and solidarity.
One of the guests, Tony Fernandes, said he enjoyed attending the event, which brought the Goan community together for an important and meaningful cause.
“The event was very well organised, with fantastic music, delicious food and a warm, friendly atmosphere that made everyone feel welcome. It was a memorable evening, and I would gladly attend similar functions in the future,” said Tony Fernandes.
For Avitha Ferrao, being part of the organising team for the function “was a truly rewarding and memorable experience.”
“It was wonderful to see over 100 people come together in a spirit of unity, friendship and generosity to support the movement. Seeing everyone enjoy themselves while supporting such a worthy cause made all the hard work and preparation worthwhile. I am proud to have contributed to this successful event and look forward to supporting more initiatives that bring our Goan community together for a meaningful purpose,” said Avitha.
UK Goan Dynamic Group coordinator Salvador Pereira thanked his team and all those who attended and supported the event.
“Our special thanks to Gladstone Almeida, Savio, Goan Restaurant O' Pamplet, GOI Restaurant, Zivac International (Alex Sequeira), Anthony Vaz, Mauro, Michael Bevan, Ella Fernandes, Fernando Araujo, and Goan Tiatr lovers from Southall,” acknowledged Councillor Salvador Pereira.
