Being a devout foodie, I enjoy trying out various dishes not just from Goa and India, but around the world, and when it comes to Arabic food, I could suggest you a place that is gaining recognition for its mouth-watering shawarmas, Arabic-style cakes, and pickles.
Middle-Eastern delicacies are much loved across the world, and Goa too is not an exception to that. Lafansa, a cozy eatery close to Caritas in St Inez knows this too well. The establishment specializes in different kinds of shawarmas- vegetarian and non-vegetarian, and also offers a range of sandwiches, pan-rolls, and home-made Arabic style cakes among other stuff.
That said, Lafansa sounded quite an unconventional name, and I sought to enquire about it as the shawarmas that I had ordered were being prepared. I was told that the name comprises of the first letters from the names of all the siblings of the owner. I would say that’s a unique way to pay tribute to your loved ones.
Coming back to shawarmas, they were enriched with additives such as iceberg lettuce, french fries, pickles, olives, and jalapenos depending upon the flavours you ask for, but that makes the shawarmas a little more expensive. Even so, I wouldn’t mind shelling some money for the perfectly cooked, juicy chicken stuffed generously with mayonnaise. You could choose to have the shawarma with bread or kabooz, an Arabic flat-bread that resembles naan.
Apart from delicious food, Lafansa also impresses with its customer-friendly service and high-quality hygiene. You could also grab a number of authentic Goan delicacies, Arabic style deserts and pickles here to tickle your taste-buds.
