PANAJI: The Xavier Centre of Historical Research will be organising a book launch of ‘The Quest for Goa: History and Heritage of Goa from Ancient Times to 2019’ by authors Dr Sharmila Pais and Prof Prajal Sakhardande on May 30 at 5.30 pm at the XCHR at Porvorim.
Both the authors are associate professors – Sharmila at St Xavier’s College, Mapusa and Prajal Sakhardande at Dhempe College of Arts and Science, Panaji. It is a comprehensive book providing a concise and accessible account of Goan history, covering various periods, including prehistoric, medieval, colonial, and post-colonial eras, drawing on scholarly research from multiple sources.
With thirty-four chapters, starting with an exploration of Goa’s location and diverse geography, the book highlights archaeological finds that shed light on early human civilization and settlement in Goa. Overall, the book offers a comprehensive understanding of Goa’s history and heritage for both students and general readers.
