A 44-year-old man who had gone missing from his house since Saturday night was found dead in a neighbourhood well in Loliem-Canacona on Monday.
According to Canacona police sources, Prasad Naik of Maiek-Loliem and an MNREGA supervisor at Gaondondrim, had left home at about 11.30 pm on Saturday and had failed to return home.
On Monday, a mechanic was attending to a malfunctioning motor in a well in the locality, when he spotted a body lying in the well.
The Canacona police was alerted and the deceased was identified as Prashant Naik. The body was sent for an autopsy and was later handed over to the family on Tuesday for final rites, which were performed later in the day.
Naik is survived by his wife, also an MNREGA supervisor at Poinguinim, and a young daughter.
