MARGAO: Mount Mary High School, Chinchinim, prevailed over Immaculate Conception High School, Paroda, 5-4 via the tie-breaker to move to the next round of the 2nd All Goa inter-school football tournament, organised by St Josephs Ex students Association Chandor, at Chandor Church ground, on Tuesday.
The Chinchinim boys combined well and tested the Paroda keeper on many occasions but the superlative saves by keeper Lohite Gaonkar denied the Chinchinim boys from scoring.
It was 0-0 at the end of regulation time. In the tie-breaker, Sean Carvalho, Viditya Kumar, Sladen Rebello, Afraz Ahmed and Tanesh Varale scored for Mount Mary Chinchinim while Amray Gracias, Joarjy Fernandes, Austin Carvalho, Royden Noronha found the net for Immaculate Conception School Paroda .
For his heroic saves in regulation time, goalkeeper of Paroda Lohite Gaonkar was declared the man of the match which was handed over by the PTA chairman of St Joseph EI Chandor Tiburcio Dourado.
