A builder has begun the task of demolishing three shops at Canca, as part of efforts to comply with his affidavit to the High Court.

The builder deployed a JCB to raze the structures since Monday. A resident had filed a petition in the high court challenging these constructions and had made the chief secretary, other government officials, the Verla-Canca panchayat and the builder as respondents in the case.

On February 27, the builder submitted an affidavit to the High Court assuring to demolish the constructions in an area which was in excess of what was permitted, within six weeks and to submit a compliance report.

The builder also assured that construction material and soil thrown in the drain during the construction has already been removed and the drain will be completely cleaned.
