The Centre for Study of Mythology and Culture (CSMC) has organised a talk on ‘Goa’s ecology through rituals and festivals’ by freelance journalist Arti Das on June 7 at 5 pm at Institute Menezes Braganza conference hall in Panaji. Das who writes about art, culture and ecology also documents and blogs on trees and conducts tree walks to make citizens aware of urban biodiversity. The talk would focus on Goa’s culture and traditions. Goa, a hub of ecological biodiversity, is known for its rituals and festivals. These events help to decode the value and the role ecology and biodiversity played in the lives of the locals and how their forefathers realised their worth. The lecture will enumerate some rituals and festivals that are a direct reflection of this philosophy and will also throw light on immediate threats to our biodiversity. The talk is free and open to all, said Dr Vidya Kamat-Parthan, member secretary, CSMC.
