Gokuldas Sawant was on Monday elected unopposed as sarpanch of Karapur-Sarvan panchayat. The post had fallen vacant following the resignation of Ujwala Kawlekar. Since Sawant was the only panch to file his nomination, he was elected unopposed as sarpanch at a special meeting on Monday. Chief Minister Pramod Sawant along with local MLA Pravin Zantye later congratulated the new sarpanch.
