PANAJI: A special photography exhibition titled ‘Your Experience at Big Foot Goa’ was organised at Big Foot Goa, Loutolim, to mark the 32nd anniversary of the monolithic Sant Mirabai sculpture. Created by renowned sculptor Maendra Alvares, the sculpture is the world’s longest laterite sculpture and has earned several prestigious records.
The exhibition was inaugurated by author, freelance writer and senior columnist Pachu Menon, who also presented awards for the best photographs to Zenon Vaz, Seyzel Fernandes and Rupesh Mahale. Menon praised the vision and effort behind the creation of Sant Mirabai, saying the sculpture had become a landmark for Goa. He said Alvares had sought to give Goa a distinct identity through art, beyond its image as a destination known for beaches, sun and sand.
The sculpture was carved into Goa’s natural laterite stone, surrounded by nature. Menon said Big Foot Goa now offers visitors an experience centred on Goa’s culture, heritage, art and environment. Cedric de Costa highlighted the dedication and effort behind the sculpture, describing it as a masterpiece that makes Goans proud.
