Margao: Veteran Konkani activist Serafino Cota has been unanimously elected President of the Konkani Bhasha Mandal, Goa, at its annual general body meeting held on Sunday. The results of the election were declared by election officer Anil Pai. Outgoing president Ratnamala Divkar was elected Vice-President, Mangaldas Bhat General Secretary, and Dr Purushottam Verlekar Treasurer. Speaking after his election, Cota said his priority is to expand the Mandal’s reach across Goa.
The audited accounts for 2025-26 were presented by Dr Verlekar and activities report was tabled by Divkar. Mangaldas Bhat presented the blueprint for activities for the current financial year. Other committee members include joint secretaries Prachi Prabhavalkar and Pramod Surlekar, central committee members Jose Lourenco, Vallabh Barve, Shalaka Desai, Uday Gude, Swetang Naik, Francis Fernandes, Prasad Pagi and Gaurang Bhandiye. Taluka representatives were named for all talukas across Goa, and Paresh Chari was co-opted as a member.
