67th Co-operative Week 2020 celebrated at Sahakar Sankul

The Government celebrated 67th Co-Operative Week-2020 at a function jointly organized by the Thrift Cooperative Association Ltd. and Goa State Cooperative Bank Ltd. Panaji at Sahakar Sankul, Patto Panaji yesterday. The theme of the function was Covid Pandemic Atmanirbhar Bharat.

The Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant inaugurated the function. Nilesh Borde, Prof Institution-Goa Business School-Goa University gave a keynote address.

The chief minister called for more to be done in this sector  - out of the box initiatives to boost this sector. He suggested the stakeholders to work tirelessly to expand the movement further by admitting more and more members every year.The chief minister said this sector has a potential to be more active to reach out to the people to accomplish the goal of Swayampurna Goa. He advised them to implement various schemes under Atmanirbhar Bharat and appealed to reach out to grass root level to seek more participation of the people in this endeavour so as to make them self reliant.  The Chairman of The Goa State Cooperative Bank Ltd Ulhas Fal Desai in his address said that the cooperative sector involves social responsibility. Utmost trust is the corner stone of this entire edifice. So this requires honesty, transparency and accountability. He urged all the stakeholders to work to accomplish objective behind the co-operative movement, by adhering to the norms.    

The organizers also felicitated stakeholders of the cooperative sector for rendering yeomen services while serving in this sector.

The Thrift Cooperative Association Ltd  sponsored mobiles to 21 needy  school students which were presented by the chief minister to the beneficiaries on the occasion. Sawant also felicitated the office bearers of various cooperative units of various government departments like Directorate of Health Services, Department of Electricity, Directorate of Education and Kadamba Transport Corporation Ltd.

Pandurang N. Kurtikar, President of Thrift Cooperative Association Ltd welcomed the guests. Sanvi Desai LDC, DHS and Salu N. Bhagat of Thrift Cooperative Association Ltd jointly compered the function.
