PANAJI: The Rosary High School, Cujira, Bambolim, organised an awareness session on Substance Abuse.
The resource persons were DySP (ANC) Nerlon Albuquerque and Dr Gaurav Haldankar, medical officer at the Addiction Treatment Facility at North Goa District Hospital.
The session was attended by students and their parents of Stds IX and X. Through this session DySP Albuquerque helped the audience not only identify the various narco drugs but also understand the signs and symptoms of their consumption and the legal implications of consumption and peddling.
Dr Haldankar laid stress on the symptoms of alcoholism and smoking.
He said studies state that over 30 percent of violence is attributed to alcoholism. He explained the ill-effects of alcoholism and smoking as well as passive smoking with a well animated PowerPoint presentation.
The resource persons were introduced by Rehan Ali Khan and Joldrich Gonsalves while Vidhi Kushawaha proposed the vote of thanks.
