The Mapusa Municipal Chairperson Shubhangi Vaingankar’s resignation has been accepted and hence deputy chairperson Chandrashekhar Benkar took charge of the post on Thursday. Vaingankar had submitted her resignation on January 11 and it was accepted on January 18 by the Municipal directors. Benkar will remain in-charge of the post until the new chairperson is selected.
1 held for stealing bracelet worth Rs 3 lakh
MARGAOThe Fatorda police has nabbed a person, who was allegedly involved in stealing a bracelet from the jewelry shop. Fatorda police station in-charge, PI Ditendra Naik informed that the police acted on a complaint that the accused had stolen the bracelet worth over Rs three lakh. The accused was arrested as he was heading towards the airport area, PI Naik said. The stolen property has since been recovered by the police, he added.
