Coastal cleanup drive to be held tomorrow

PANAJI
A large coastal cleanup campaign has been organised for September 17. Under this campaign, called 'Swachh Sagar, Surakshit Sagar', 35 beaches across Goa will be cleaned. A total of 160 kms will be covered in Goa by over 3,000 volunteers. A mobile app ‘Eco Mitram’ is launched to spread awareness about the campaign and also for the common people to register themselves as volunteers. This campaign is aimed to be the longest-running coastal cleanup campaign in the world with the highest number of people participating in it. It will also see massive public participation both physically and virtually, from people dedicated to focusing on marine litter, minimal use of plastics, segregation at source and waste management. In Goa, the campaign is run in collaboration with Green Army Foundation, SAWE, Persistent Foundation, Rotaract and many such local organisations.
