Dalgado Konknni Akademi (DKA) will organise a condolence Meeting in memory of Fr Conceicao D’ Silva, vice president of DKA who passed away recently, on March 3 at Ravindra Bhavan, Margao. DKA president Vincy Quadros will preside over this meeting. In a press release the DKA stated that Fr Conceicao, a staunch supporter of Konkani, was instrumental in getting DKA in the limelight by sponsoring the Literary Awards when there was no finance with DKA in the years 2005 to 2008. He had promoted writers by releasing their books and selling at his retreats. The last book he had released was of Fr Lino de Sa on February 5 this year, just two days before he passed away. He organised a mega event, ‘Kantaranchi Sanz’ at Raia, besides Konkani Vachop Spordha. He also organised ‘Voice of Raia’.
DKA press note further states that although Fr Conceicao was fluent in English, he preached in Konkani, raised toast in Konkani and encouraged couples to have their nuptials in Konkani. The Church of Goa looked at Fr Conceicao as the fund raiser for events such as the construction of St Joseph Vaz Spiritual Centre, ‘Good Samaritan Fund’ etc.
