IMA Goa State President Dr Rufino Monteiro, Secretary Dr Amol Tilve, Treasurer Dr Dayanand Naiyan along with Dr Shekhar Salkar past president IMA Goa state had a meeting with newly appointed DGP of Goa Jaspal Singh on Thurday and presented him a copy of Memorandum that was presented to CM Dr Pramod Sawant regarding attacks on doctors and filing of wrong FIRs by police leading to death by suicide of Dr Archana Sharma in Rajasthan recently. CM Sawant had noted in the Memorandum about sensitization programs for Police Inspectors regarding handling of cases against Doctors alleging medical negligence. DGP Jaspal Singh said he would look into the matter and soon organise a sensitization program within the next 15 days for all Police Inspectors at the Police Headquarters Panaji. Dr Rufino Monteiro also requested DGP Jaspal Singh to look into formation of Patient Redressal Committee as was mentioned in the Goa Medicare Act so that all cases alleging medical negligence could be deliberated by the committee before a legal response is contemplated.
