The Catechetical Cell of St Thomas Church, Aldona, under the leadership of the Parish Vicar and Animator Fr Tomas Lobo, has organised 'Kantaranchi Sanz' “ an evening of rendition of Konkani songs old and new on Sunday, November 26 from 7 pm onwards at the St Thomas Church grounds, Aldona.
The event themed 'Songitachea Talar Gaitanv Gannim, Suadik Tallean Kortanv Porkonddnni' will include performances by young and budding catechism children singing Konkani songs of legendary composers of yesteryears. The evening programme will also include dances based on old Konkani songs to be performed by the young Sunday school children.
The event is conceptualised with a three-fold purpose: to celebrate the feast of St Cecilia, the patroness of musicians, to provide a platform for the youngsters to showcase their latent talent for singing and to instil in their hearts the love for Konkani - an important and integral part of Goa's rich social and cultural identity.
