Mission Bamboo initiative: Applications invited

Announcing an ambitious bamboo promotion campaign, the Goa State Bamboo Mission has invited applications from interested persons in Goa for the proposed activities such as bamboo nursery, bamboo plantation in the private lands, bamboo treatment plants as well as bamboo depots, godowns and bamboo mandi. For bamboo nurseries the department will offer 50% subsidy (5 to 25 lakh based on the nursery size). Under bamboo plantation in the private lands scheme 50% subsidy (Rs 50,000/ha for plantation) will be given. For setting up bamboo treatment plants, carbonisation plants: 50% subsidy (Rs 10 lakh for bamboo treatment plants and Rs 15 lakh for carbonisation plants) will be offered. For those interested in setting up bamboo depots/godown and bamboo mandi, 25% subsidy (i.e Rs 12.50 lakh for bamboo depots/godown and 25 lakh for bamboo mandi) will be given. PANAJIThe annual Jatra Mahotsava celebrated at the tallest peak in Goa Siddhanath parvat at Bori Shirshire will be on January 16 with various programmes, informed Shyam Prabhudesai, president of the devasthan committee.
