Anjuna Police has booked an unknown person on charges of robbing a woman of her mangalstura and cash amounting to Rs 54,000 on Thursday morning.According to police, an unknown man on a two-wheeler approached a woman labourer in Mapusa and hired her services for the day.
The man made the woman sit on his scooter and took her to a jungle at Doxixir-Anjuna, where he snatched her mangalsutra and a purse containing cash of Rs 4,000 and made good his escape.
The robber left the rent-a-bike scooter behind and fled from the spot.
Meanwhile, the shocked woman rushed to the road and raised an alarm and the police were notified.
Anjuna Police have lodged an offence against an unknown person under Section 356 (criminal force in attempt to commit robbery) and Section 379 (theft) of the IPC. PSI Amir Taral is investigating the matter.
