PANAJI: After a gap of one year, Goa will witness state level shigmo parade which will be organised by Goa Tourism Department from March 19 onwards with much funfare. Shigmotsav parades will be organised at Ponda on March 19, Mapusa on March 20, Vasco on March 22, Panaji on March 26 and Margao on March 27. In order to create the right ambience, the Shigmo Tourism Department has engaged craftsman for decorations based on folklore in Panjim. Due to Covid-19 pandemic last year's Shigmotsav celebrations and state level parades were cancelled and now once again the Tourism Department will organise Shigmotsav which is an attraction for tourists. Local people also throng in large numbers for these shigmo parades that are based on mythology. Also Romtamel and different types of folk arts are presented at these parades. The Tourism Department in order to give inspiration to craftsman and folk artists from the state has announced attractive cash prizes for the best floats and also to folk artists.
