PANAJISt Thomas parish, Aldona will mark the solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary and the India’s 75th Independence Day on August 15 with an evening of revival of Goan traditions, culture and cuisine titled “Somudayanchea Ekvottachi Sanz”. The theme chosen for the event is: “Marie sangata somudaik Ekchar, Sohobhageliponn, Misanv jiyeum-ia”. The occasion will see the coming together of the different Somudais from the parish to celebrate the spirit of togetherness, while reviving traditional games and showcasing its rich cultural heritage. The Sunday school children and the youth will bring alive on stage Goan folk dances and festivals. Homemade sweets like patolleo, pudde, latodd, kheer, ale-bele, xirvoyeo prepared by the Somudais will be available. Stalls demonstrating different traditional occupations, besides different traditional equipment and kitchenware used in the yesteryears will be on display.
