The Department of English in collaboration with IQAC of the college organised a State-level online workshop on 'Misinformation' for the students of various colleges. The resource person for the workshop was Bharat Nayak, Head, Fact-check division at The Logical Indian & verification trainer of the Google News Initiative Trainer Network in India. Member of FactShala, a news and information literacy programme launched in India by Internews in collaboration with DataLEADS with support from Google.org and the Google News Initiative. The workshop trained students to understand fake news and reporting by the media and enabled the students to become responsible consumers of media. The session brought to light many issues that plague the current news that is forwarded by Whatsapp and other social media. The session began with the Principal Dr Manasvi M Kamat welcoming the gathering and shedding light on the relevance of the workshop. The workshop was moderated by Dr S Susan Deborah, In-charge, Department of English while William De Souza proposed the vote of thanks.
