A person was injured when two two-wheelers collided with each other near St Andrew’s Church in Vasco.
As locals rushed to the site to help the injured person, the rider and pillion rider of the other two-wheeler abandoned the vehicle and fled from the scene behind fearing public outrage.
A local resident and former municipal Councillor Gaurish Mardolkar said the injured person had arrived at the location to pick up his child from tuition classes, when a speeding two-wheeler struck his vehicle.
"The persons left their bike behind and fled from the site. We have now seen that the bike does not have a registration number in the front. The police should act on such bikes who don't have number plates and initiate stringent action on people riding such bikes at a high speed.”
“Sometimes, some youngsters don't even have a licence and this is time to act on such people because an innocent person has been injured for no fault of his," said Mardolkar.
