MARGAO
Former PWD Minister Churchill Alemao has said the agitation against the Mopa airport died down for want of support from the people and the decision to keep out politicians from the movement.
When his attention was drawn to accusations by opponents that he used the anti-Mopa agitation to further his political interests, Churchill rejected the agitation, saying the people did not fully back the Save Goa Front to make an impact on the airport.
“The SGF won only two seats. We could not have our way with the then government to scrap Mopa, though the government gave us assurance that Dabolim will never be shut down,” he said.
