MARGAO: Agxem Sports Club downed Bhatti United Club 3-1 to enter the quarterfinals of 1st Caniza Peixoto Memorial football tournament, organised by Agxem Sports Club, at St Alex Church ground, Curtorim, on Monday.
Bhatti United scored the first goal in the sixth minute with a powerful shot by James Fernandes while in the 12th minute Agxem found the equaliser through Savio Peixoto. Agxem inflated the lead by Alroy Gomes in the 21st minute with a neat placement.
As match progressed in the second half, both teams tried to take control of the game but Bhatti United's Macroy, Franky and Patrick tried to find the equaliser however the Agxem defence stood firm and denied the scoring opportunities. In the 48th minute, Agxem's Savio Peixoto scored from the top of the box to complete his brace and seal the game.
Savio Peixeto of Agxem Sports Club was awarded man of the match by Jose Gomes, ex-player of Agxem SC.
