Deputy Speaker and Canacona MLA Isidore Fernandes on Thursday launched the beautification work at St Cruz Chapel in Parvem-Agonda.
Others present at the function amid strict SOPs included Agonda Parish Priest Fr Romeo D'Silva and Sarpanch Badal Naikgaunkar.
Stating the function is being held with only a few people in view of Covid restrictions, Fernandes said the beautification work has been taken up partly as pavers would be laid before the monsoon and the remaining work would be taken up in a phased manner.
Earlier, ex-sarpanch and panch Pramod Phaldessai said the beautification work had been pending for many years and thanked Fernandes for succeeding in getting government funds under GIA to take up the project.
Others present at the event included CMC councillor Shubham Komarpant, social activist Frankey Fernandes, Francisco Fernandes, panch Barsat Naikgaunkar, Canacona BJP Block President Nandip Bhagat and Secretary Damodar Chari.
