Headmistress of Government High School Morpirla Maria Morena Miranda who has 33 years of teaching experience to her credit was felicitated with the State Best Teachers' Award by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant at the Republic Day celebration at Campal ground, Panjim. An MSc BEd and hailing from Assolna, Morena has been working for the upliftment of tribal students in the most remote village of Morpirla in Quepem taluka. The school has seen tremendous progress under her leadership and achieved 100 per cent SSC results for five years. Morena dedicated the award to the teachers and students as she feels if she worked hard, they worked harder to achieve success, and to all Morpirla parents for having faith in her. Morena said she is grateful to her Director of Education Sir Santosh Amonker and her seniors for their guidance.
