DKA to celebrate Konkani Journalism Day

PANAJI
With the intent of gaining recognition of the state government, Dalgado Konknni Akademi (DKA) celebrates February 2 as Konkani Journalism Day, each year. This day is significant as the first Romi Konkani weekly 'Udentichem Sallok' commenced on February 2, 1889. Eduardo Jose Bruno de Souza was its first editor. When no journalism existed, De Souza took up the challenge and published the daily and created history in the field of Konkani journalism.

DKA has decided to celebrate Journalism Day on 2 February this year as well, at Reginaldo Fernandes Conference Hall at 10.30 am. A prominent Konkani writer Pio Esteves will speak on the subject 'Does Konkani Journalism exist? What is the Deficiency?’. DKA President Vincy Quadros, Secretary William Fernandes and Treasurer Celso Fernandes will share the dais with the main speaker.

This programme to celebrate the historic Konkani Journalism Day is open to all. On this occasion, DKA will distribute prizes to the winners of the recently concluded literary competitions. DKA President, Vincy Quadros requests all winners, participants, writers and Konkani lovers to attend the gathering.
