The government of Maharashtra has announced the Best Marathi Literary awards for 2019; late Yashwantrao Chavan State Awards and including 34 from Maharashtra, there are writers from Goa who too bagged the prestigious award.
Prof Aditi Barve from Goa received the Bruhan-Maharashtra Puraskar for her translation of a Konkani book in Marathi. Originally written by another Goan writer in Saudi Arabia, Rupali Mauzo Kirtani, who happens to be the daughter of veteran Goan writer Damodar Mauzo, Barve's book, 'Saudytale Divas' has been published by Pune's Padmagandha Prakashan. Barve received Rs 1 lakh in cash, memento and certificate.
Another writer from Goa, Gopal Chippalkatti also received the award for 'Prachin Bharatiya Sanskruti: Mooladharanchya Shodhat', a book based on historical evidence. Kavi Keshavsut Puraskar was given to Manguesh Narayanrao Kale, Ram Ganesh Gadakari Puraskar to Shafayat Khan and Hari Narayan Apte Puraskar to Manoj Borgaonkar.
