On the occasion of World No Tobacco Day observed on Wednesday, Hospicio South Goa District Hospital organised an event at the hospital premises, for hospital staff as well as patients attending OPD and IPD departments. Dr Rajendra Borkar (Medical Superintendent), Dr Sarah George (District nodal officer), Roland Martins (GOAGAN NGO), Dr Anju Kharangate MO ATF and Vishal Gaonkar Extension Educator (SGDH) were present. Dr Rajendra Borkar, Dr Sarah George and Roland Martins spoke to the participants regarding the harm tobacco can cause and the steps that need to be taken to curtail the use of tobacco, as well as about the theme, for 2023 "We Need Food, Not Tobacco". A skit competition was held, and the participants were further educated about the harms of tobacco use. The winner of the competition was a group representing Public Health Centre Shiroda. Around 80 participants were present during the programme.
