The Salcete taluka enforcement squad constituted under the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act (COTPA) conducted inspections of several hotels in the tourist village of Colva on Tuesday.
The inspections were carried out by the squad led by Urvashi Naik, Joint Mamlatdar, Salcete, accompanied by GOACAN volunteers.
GOACAN Secretary Lorna Fernandes informed that several violations were unearthed during the inspections at the hotels. She said the violators were imposed fines prescribed under the COTPA Act.
Meanwhile, a meeting of the District Level Coordination Committee for Tobacco Control was chaired by the District Collector at the South Goa Collectorate on Tuesday.
