Raisa Fernandes of Vasco and Ashley Afonso of Porvorim were declared joint winners at the first-of-its-kind Goan heritage ‘Parkonnem-Kitem Tem Sang’ competition for the C G Varkey Silver Rolling Heritage trophy.
According to a press release issued by chief facilitator of the event Cyril Fernandes, Raisa Fernandes will keep the trophy for the first period, while Ashley Afonso will keep it in the next half.
The Parkonnem-Kitem Tem Sang contest was organised by Chicalim Bio-Crusaders as an attempt to promote the heritage of Chicalim and Goa through this unique contest.
The trophy, specially designed by Chicalim villagers to reflect their village’s rich biodiversity, comprises windowpane oysters shells placed around a silver plate and locally handcrafted.
Five runners-up were also awarded with certificates and specially designed heritage mementos.
The five runners-up were Remedios Fernandes of Margao (first), Jacqueline Sequeira of Vasco (second), Fatima Fernandes of Alto-Chicalim (third), Rina Fernandes of Betalbatim (fourth) and Jovita De Souza of Curtorim (fifth), the press note added.
