Kerala & TN Governor Arlekar launches Shyam Gaonkar's books

The habit of reading is declining among the new generation due to the increasing use of mobile phones and social media; there is an urgent need to launch a widespread ‘reading movement’ to change this situation, stated Rajendra Arlekar, Governor of Kerala and Tamil Nadu on Saturday. The Governor was speaking as the chief guest at the launch ceremony of the books ‘Manvedh’ and ‘Avirat’, authored by Shyam Gaonkar at Institute Menezes Braganza. Also present on the dais were Abhir Hede, Director of Department of Information and Publicity, Dasharath Parab, Chairman of the Institute Menezes Braganza,  journalist Sangam Bhonsule and author Shyam Gaonkar. Abhir Hede, Director of the Information and Publicity Department said earlier, the 'library period' in schools was developing the habit of not only reading but also reflecting, forming their own opinions and presenting them effectively. While discussing the key essays in the books, Sangam Bhonsule highlighted the need for readers to connect with the author's emotions.  Dasharath Parab also delivered an address at the event. Manjari Mayuresh Vatve compered the event, while Omkar Govekar proposed the vote of thanks.

DYC holds ‘Youth Aspire’ career guidance event

PANAJIFifty-two participants from all over Goa attended the ‘Youth Aspire’, a career guidance programme was organised by the Diocesan Youth Centre (DYC) at St John Paul II Complex Margao on August 9.
