Cortalim ZP Anton Vas said he would construct a state-of-the-art gym facility for youth in the Velsao area through the ZP funds.
Vas was speaking at a plantation drive undertaken by social worker and former panch Roquezinho D’Souza in association with Forest Department (Quepem Range) at Velsao on Independence Day.
"I will construct a gym at Velsao to promote good health and sports among the youth. The project will be taken up through ZP funds from the 15th Finance Commission and this process has already begun," said Vas.
D'Souza said the plantation drive was carried out to ensure that youth indulge in activities that would not only add beauty to the village but provide oxygen and also help the environment.
He said the forest department provided the saplings free of cost.
