Asmita Gaude was on Friday elected unopposed as sarpanch of Usgao-Ganjem panchayat.
The post was been vacant since the resignation of former sarpanch Sangita Gaonkar on February 4.
At a special meeting, Gaude was the lone panch to file a nomination and was declared elected unopposed by the election officer Ravindra Naik.
Others present at the meeting included Deputy Sarpanch Ramnath Dangi, panchas Sangeeta Gaonkar, Seema Mascarenhas, Rekha Welingkar, Tulshidas Prabhu, Gurudas Gaude, Dinesh Tari, William Mascarenhas and panchayat secretary Prasad Shet.
Later speaking to reporters, Asmita Gaude expressed her desire to complete the pending works in the village with the help of all panchas.
