An e-waste collection drive was recently organized by Lions Club of Calangute and Lions Club of Mapusa Suburban jointly, a bid to raise awareness and reduce the adverse effects of e-waste.
The e-waste collected was given to the e-waste collection centre Calangute.
The e-waste collected will be segregated into cartridges, light bulbs, printers and electronic appliances. Post segregation the waste will be transported to Bengaluru where it will be processed appropriately and safely.
President of Lions Club of Calangute MJF Lion Illyas Rajabali and President of Lions Club of Mapusa Suburban Lion Lion Clarissa Simoes appealed to people to collect and deposit their e-waste. If the waste is not discarded properly, the heavy metals it contains like lead and cadmium can pose a serious threat to one's health and the environment.
