First of its kind in Vasco, the No Motorized Zone eventturned out to be a mandate to find a place in the port town for publicinteraction.
Prominent citizens stressed on the need of “open space” andpreferred the place opposite the municipal building to be converted into a citysquare.
Although the citizen’s group organized NoMoZo to basicallyprovide a platform to locals to showcase their talent and skill, the eventturned out into a successful community interaction, where people felt that thecity lacks a public square and preferred the area opposite the municipalbuilding to be declared as city square.
Hundreds of enthusiastic Vascoities along with familymembers came out in large numbers to witness and take part in the “NoMoZo”. Manyfelt that while various public and social awareness programmes were highlightedthrough the event, Vascoities priority should be to find a place for publicinteraction and ideally preferred if it was right in the heart of the Vascocity.
In order to find the pulse of the people The Goan contactedvarious prominent citizens who were present for the event. Almost everyone wasof the opinion that the event venue ideally should be held at a fixed placepossibly at the city center.
