OLD GOA: A stationary Tata Xenon truck caught fire at Fornavaddo-Mandur on Saturday, incurring a loss of around Rs 1.5 lakh to its owner.
According to Old Goa fire station sources, a call was received at around 6 pm that smoke was billing out of the truck, following which a fire tender led by sub officer Pandurang Kankonkar rushed to the site and extinguished the fire before it could spread. However, by then t
“The loss incurred in the incident was estimated at around Rs 1.5 lakh while we were able to save around Rs 3 lakh,” a firemen informed The Goan while stating that the incident could have occurred due to overheating of the battery.
The other firemen who participated in the firefighting exercise were driver operator Ramesh Virdikar, firefighters Paresh Gawas and Pranay Sawant.
