PORVORIM:
Saligao MLA Kedar Naik lauded the Pilerne-Marra for its decision to spend Rs 90 lakh from the panchayat fund without waiting for government funds to lay the lawn on the panchayat ground.
He was speaking at Pilerne after launching the work to lay the lawn for the panchayat ground. “The foundation stone for the construction of this Pilerne ground was laid in May 2013 and work on the ground was completed in July 2017. Since then, work to lay lawn on this ground was pending for want of funds,” said Naik.
“The Pilerne-Marra Panchayat decided to lay the lawn by spending Rs 90 lakh from the panchayat fund without waiting for funds from the government. This decision of the panchayat deserves appreciation.”
“Once the ground becomes ready, it will be ready for football lovers to organise tournaments. I am also trying my best to develop one more ground in Saligao constituency and I will leave no stone unturned to complete this work during my tenure as Saligao MLA.” Pilerne Dy Sarpanch Amarnath Govekar mentioned that fields for the development of the ground were donated by farmers in the area and the government released funds for the construction of the ground.
