An accelerated pre-incubation programme, EnvironXcel, was launched for green-tech start-ups at BITS Pilani Goa by Rajiv Gulati, former head, United Nations Technology Innovation Labs India and Nalin Agarwal, founding partner, Climate Seed in a virtual event and 15 ideas were selected from over 50 applications by start-ups and innovators, to form the first cohort of EnvironXcel.The participants will be provided access to the high-end equipment in the Innovation lab, intensive business training, one-to-one coaching, mentoring and investor connections. It is a 12-week hard-touch programme with advanced start-up tools to help idea stage entrepreneurs validate and scale their innovations in areas related to clean tech, climate tech, renewable energy etc. During the launch event, Gulati stressed on the need for innovative solutions related to environment, climate change, carbon footprint and aligning sustainable development goals with start-up objectives. Agarwal explained how entrepreneurs have started exploring the climate space and how the investors are prioritizing ESG (Environment Social and Governance) after Covid.
